So what gear are you guys thinking? 8wt, 10wt? I watched Jay Nicholas say he was using 30' t20 tungsten core as the head attached to slickshooter, sounds good to me, that would make it a 600 grain head. I have a line on a cheap 10wt rod i may just use as those that have horsed in a ling well knows their potential power. Even a big cod on my big ugly stick is a workout, this will be fun!
I am setting myself up with around 200ft of 50lb Braid, then a type 5 sink line then 30ft of T20 leader will consist of 3ft of 15lb mono (leak point if needed to break off) and then 6ft of 50lb mono to fly. Will be on the new 9ft 8wt.
Try to get out this morning but turned around before we got out of the bay. Was blowing 15-25 knots and we figured although the waves weren't to bad it wasn't a great idea to be out in less than ideal conditions the first time out.
Well now the Spring Fish in is over, I am going to get back focused on Lingcod even try trolling a fly for Chinook. Winds and weather look favorable this weekend, but it won't take much to blow my little tinny off the water.
