Hammered these guys all day on Constance. Fallen in love with setting up mono on the fly reel and trolling spoons. Makes the best of a crappy situation. Nothing but hatchery fish. Sick that DFO put such a hurt on my guide friends and all those that rely on this fishery for their livelihood for zero reason.
If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.

I've done a fair amount of trolling buctails with mono for coho around Neah Bay. Oftentimes a V-wake on the surface excites them, sometimes just behind the prop wash, other times 100' feet behind the boat. Varying the boat speed, changes of direction that lift or sink the fly is good. It's important to be flexible until you hit the right combination that triggers a take. I always start up on the surface though because it's just plain cool to see the take. Good fishing to you.
