Just picked up a new to me Alumacraft 1448 MV on a trailer. Been kind of looking for a bit an one popped up so I pulled the trigger. Should be a nice winter cutthroat boat for the bigger lakes. I think I'm done with boats now lol. I have my 9 foot Springbok punt, the 12 foot Jon boat I built, my 8 foot Outcast pontoon, a Fishcat and now a 14 footer lol. One for every situation.
Getting the new boat dialled in. It came with a bow mount electric which I didn't like at first. Couldn't get used to the foot control pedal. Added a wireless remote, total game changer. I like it now, find it way easier to control. I also like being able to stand on the front seat as I am cruising through the snags. The boat came with a deck between the middle and front seat built with an aluminum frame. The plywood for the deck was toast so I took it out, probably going to rebuild it now for solo trips and make it easy to remove.
Biggest news is I just put a brand new 20 horse Mercury on the back. Man is it nice and it whips along pretty good. Can cruise at about 35 Kph according to my GPS at not quite 3/4 throttle. Splurged and got electric start which also has battery charging. Was originally going to go with a 15 but glad I opted for the 20. And it is great on fuel.
Bring on winter cutties, lol. Spending lots of time on the water this winter.
Hey Count, great to see your new craft! I can just imagine you snaking through the stumps searching for big cutts! This is a boat I've been thinking a bit about. Have you had it on the water much and how do you like it?
